I was driving by Tremur Lake the other day and decided to take a picture of a rather lonely chair that someone had placed near the north shore.
I have no idea who would have wanted to put a chair in that odd spot, certainly not an ice-fisherman, as fishing isn't allowed. I couldn't see any evidence of skating either, so it's a bit of a mystery. Maybe someone just wanted to clear their mind and sit in solitude in the lake. Who knows? I thought it would be a cool picture. It was also an excuse to try out my brand new camera.
It's a bit of a stretch calling this body of water a lake, it's more like a large pond. In simpler days it served as the resevoir for Trenton and in the bushes by the south shore one can still see the squat water works building. I'm not sure who is responsible for cutting the grass and doing the yard work in the summer, but it is always well groomed there.
The area around Tremur Lake is being developed and there's two new housing developments within walking distance. It's a nice area and very conveniently located just five minutes south of highway 401. The lake is on the corner of Wooler and Telephone roads, so it's also very close to both Trenton and Brighton. It has become a very desireable part of the Quinte area to live. Apparently it's also not a bad place to pull up a chair and sit for a while.
