Rick Campanelli, the host of Canada's daily show Entertainment Tonight is taking a very big risk this Holiday season. Rick has been a long time supporter of Athletes for Africa, a Toronto based grassroots organization that is responsible for Guluwalk and other fund raising initiatives that supports young people in Africa by using the power and profile of sports. As well as putting in stellar performances in the last two Athletes for Africa, Rock the Pitch soccer tournaments , he hosted this years Guluwalk Gala, and most impressively, went to northern Uganda this summer where he produced a series of mini documentaries about the youth in that most unfortunate part of the world. Stay tuned for those.
The big risk? He has made an on-air wager with his co-host Cheryl Hickey. Should he lose this wager, Cheryl will have the (pleasure?????) of waxing his legs on air - and I've seen them, it won't be an easy task. There is a way that we can all pitch in to prevent this travesty from taking place and preventing the most traumatic event in televised history since Janet Jackson's infamous nipple slip.
Rick and Cheryl are competing to raise funds for their favourite causes. Cheryl is supporting the Sickkids foundation, a very worthy cause, while Rick is raising funds for Athletes for Africa.
There's a huge upside if Rick wins this friendly competition. Cheryl has agreed to Dance with the Toronto Raptor's Dance Pak (no, I didn't misspell that - it's missing a "c") on December 22 during the Raptor's game against the Detroit Pistons. This is something that most of the civilized world would like to see, much more so than Rick Campanelli getting his legs waxed. Much, much more so.
