Quinte, On. real estate agent: The Stirling Water Buffalo Food Festival

The Stirling Water Buffalo Food Festival

water buffalo food festival

I am all about supporting the local economy and getting involved with the festivals that Trenton and the surrounding communities host. Somehow though, the "water buffalo food festival" seems a little strange. I had never thought of water buffalo as one of the tastier animals this planet has to offer.

The promotional poster for this festival is a bit strange too. I wonder if the poor buffalo know that they are about to be eaten by the good citizens of the Quinte area. I will probably suspend my judgement and head on up to Stirling on Saturday, August 28 and find out for myself just how delectable a water buffalo can be. I sure hope buddy there puts on a shirt before cooking up my meal though.

Hi Malcolm,  Being an ex-American when I saw you were from Trenton, I thought of New Jersey... I didn't know there was a Trenton, Ontario!  Buffalo meat is delicious, it's a tastier beef than a cow...  Enjoy the festival and try some, it's excellent!!!  ;>))

We have to admit Malcolm, when you post first filled the screen, we thought, what is this?? You will have to give us the run down on the event. Like you we are hoping that guy puts some clothes on and really doesn't cook in the buff!

Hi Malcolm,

Huh, interesting event. And like you there will probably be other curious people attending - which is probably the reason for the strange campaign.

Take pictures and let us know how it goes :)

Liz and Bill Spear RE/MAX Elite (Southwestern Ohio) It is strange indeed. It's as if they are trying to make water buffalo seem like Italian cuisine. Buon appetito???

Ann-Marie Clements Luxury Homes REALTOR® M.S. Ed., Saint John, NB (Royal LePage Atlantic) Whaaaaat? There's a Trenton in New Jersey? Geddouttahere.

Al and Peggy Cunningham, Brokers Voted Best Real Estate People Brampton (RE/MAX Realty Services Inc. Buying or Selling) Mmmm, a naked hairy man would be more of an appetite suppressant in my books. That's just me though. Hey, who's hair is this in my water buffalo soup?

Pam McInnes - Here to Help You and Your Pets (Team Realty K.W. Inc., Brokerage - Kitchener, ON Canada) I'm sure there will be a few of us going Pam. I'll let you know how the buffalo tastes.

I agree he should probably put on a shirt. I would imagine Buffalo tastes like beef. I have never had it though. Hope you have a good weekend!

Warren & Melanie McNeil - Team McNeil (Re/Max Twin City Realty Inc, Kitchener-Waterloo ON) I'm thinking beef too Warren and Melanie. I guess I'll find out.

The reason for the Italian phrase, and colours is because the Water Buffalo food festival is Italian themed - all of the participating chefs in the competition portion are making Italian based recipes, and many are representing Italian restaurants.
In addition, the buffalo are milked to produce the Buffalo mozzarella cheese (which the man on the poster is holding), buffalo ricotta and scamorza cheeses.  The cheese is produced in an Italian cheese factory in Woodbridge ON.

And don't worry - last year "that guy" was fully clothed at the event!
