Quinte, On. real estate agent: Nuit Blanche 2010 Photos

Nuit Blanche 2010 Photos

My son and I drove down to the Big Smoke on Saturday night to participate in Nuit Blanche.  We found a very good parking spot at the bottom of Church Street surprisingly quickly, and it was only $5.00 for the night. Score. We were off to a great start. One - nil to the good guys.

We could hear the drums and see hazy purple smoke and lights in the distance as we scurried towards King and Yonge along with the crowd. We thought this would be a sensible starting place. We wandered around for a few hours, unable to make sense of a lot of what we were seeing, but we had an absolute blast. It was a pretty surreal experience at times.

There were too many displays to get to, so we concentrated on the ones near Dundas Square. I didn't feel like walking to the Distillery District or Libertyville.  There was a huge bonfire right in the middle of Dundas Square. It was strange, and after a while I learned to stop asking myself "what is the point of this?" and just enjoy the displays. Some were interactive, some weren't, some were huge technological displays, and others were musical in nature. They were all very good. There are some incredibly creative people in the world, and I kept wondering "what the hell made him think of that?"

We wandered all over the downtown core and by 2 a.m. we decided we had had enough. My feet were sore. We only managed to get to about 50 of the 130 displays, but that was enough. My son and I shared a lot of laughs, saw a lot of strange people and displays, and had a really fun evening together.

I think we'll be going back next year. Who else wants to come?

There are a lot of events that you can enjoy if you can get past the "What is the point of this?" question, but for a lot of people, that's tough to do.
