Quinte, On. real estate agent: Tremur Lake

Tremur Lake

Tremur LakeI was driving by Tremur Lake the other day and decided to take a picture of a rather lonely chair that someone had placed near the north shore.

I have no idea who would have wanted to put a chair in that odd spot, certainly not an ice-fisherman, as fishing isn't allowed. I couldn't see any evidence of skating either, so it's a bit of a mystery. Maybe someone just wanted to clear their mind and sit in solitude in the lake. Who knows? I thought it would be a cool picture. It was also an excuse to try out my brand new camera.

It's a bit of a stretch calling this body of water a lake, it's more like a large pond.  In simpler days it served as the resevoir for Trenton and in the bushes by the south shore one can still see the squat water works building. I'm not sure who is responsible for cutting the grass and doing the yard work in the summer, but it is always well groomed there.

The area around Tremur Lake is being developed and there's two new housing developments within walking distance. It's a nice area and very conveniently located just five minutes south of highway 401. The lake is on the corner of Wooler and Telephone roads, so it's also very close to both Trenton and Brighton. It has become a very desireable part of the Quinte area to live. Apparently it's also not a bad place to pull up a chair and sit for a while.

HI Malcolm,

It is one of those pictures that does make you wonder why it was placed there, and what was the person think about to feel the need to do so....

This new mystery is for us to ponder.

Happy Selling

Malcolm - Maybe someone learning to ice skate?  A chair is a good stabilizer.

I would have guessed ice fishing, illegal or otherwise. And, maybe no fish.

Peter and Linda, maybe someone was tired of sitting on the hot seat and wanted to cool down.

Norma, I didn't see any signs of skate marks close by, and the ice was a little rough for a novice skater.

Brian, that's what I would have thought, but there was no hole, and the good fish are only a mile away on the Bay of Quinte.

Sometimes you just need a place to sit.  What kind of camera did you choose?  Have a great weekend.

Maybe somebody wants to monitor the thickness of the ice. When the chair sinks then the ice is too thin. I recall many years ago someone put an old beatup van on the pond in Wellesley and people had to guess when the van would sink. I think it was done for charity.

Maybe some photographer was just wanting to set up a nice shot, which I think is what you got!

That is a very cool picture Malcolm.  Would have really been something to catch the person sitting there!

Malcolm, I find pictures like this to be very interesting... just wondering, like you how the chair got there and how much longer it will stay there.

Malcolm, What's happened to the chair?  Is it still there?  Someone was chillin'!

Great photo!
