Quinte, On. real estate agent: Hey You,..............Yes You,............... I Saw That.

Hey You,..............Yes You,............... I Saw That.

Remember me?

I was sitting at the table right behind yours at the Century 21 Kickoff event at the Congress Centre in Toronto yesterday. You were sitting with a group of agents from your brokerage. I'm not sure what number your table was, but mine was 95. You looked like a prosperous bunch.

That was an excellent meal, the salad was particularly nice, wasn't it? Everthing was so well presented. It must have taken quite a bit of organizing to pull a meal like that off for about (I'm guesstimating now) 1000 agents.

The award ceremony was quite nice too. I was just along for the ride at that poin,t as I wasn't going to win any awards, definitely not for my sales figures anyway. At three weeks in with Century 21, I certainly don't qualify for a lifetime achievement award or anything like that. I enjoyed watching everyone gleefully motoring up to the stage with the music pumping, just like they had won an Oscar.

I noticed that you won a Masters Diamond Award for sales. Very nice. Congratulations. What is that, I think it's like $190,000 to $349,000 in commissions for an agent (Don't quote me on that though). It's a lot of hard work. Very well done. The applause and plaudits were well earned.

You remember who I am? When you looked around to see if anyone noticed that you had slipped your table's centre piece vase into your handy large tote bag I was the guy who's eye you caught. If my facial expression could have been translated into a sound, it would have been something like "eeeeeeeeeeee". I am that guy.

Bad form. I realize that times are tough, but all in all, I think you did quite well last year. With sales figures like yours, I'm sure you did well enough that you don't have to pinch vases from tables. I know you knew you were doing something shady, your sneaky expression spoke volumes.

You should probably update the image you use on your advertising as well sweetheart. I too occasionally mourn the passing of my youthful good looks, but I think I would be taking it a bit far if I still used photos from the 1990's.

Anyhow, now that you know who I am, if you know of anybody who is moving to the Quinte area, I'm never too busy for your referalls.

Note to the staff at the Toronto Congress Centre; If you need any information about a missing vase, I know where it is (unless it's already been given away as a house warming gift).

Malcolm ~ did this really happen?  OMG.  I just have to laugh about this.  An award winner and she steals the centerpiece vase!  Really?!

Hi Dawn, yup it happened. I was laughing to myself all night. Busted.

Yikes!  That's sad.  Maybe they are planning on giving it as a housewarming gift!

Hello Tony, it is pretty sad, I guess some people can't help themselves.

I hope she is not as shady in her professional dealings as she is in her personal behavior.  Yikes, that's theft in my book.

Norma, I hope she doesn't do that at open houses either.

Great post Malcolm! Reading it, the way you wrote it, I almost felt like I was there. I agree "eeeeeeeeeeee".

The old 5 finger discount.  I'm sure there were others who noticed her antics as well.  Sad.

Thank you Laura, haha, I couldn't believe it, but that's what happened.

Cindy, for her sake, I hope nobody else did. It was embarrasing enough watching it.

Malcolm. Maybe it matched her new shiny Century 21 award? Too funny.

Malcolm, you truly are a great story teller and writer. I enjoy your perspective.  The funniest part is that you are asking for the referral.  HA! Think you will get it?

Ellie, haha, one would think that taking an award home would be enough for one evening.

Larry, hey, I'll take a referral from where ever they are being offered. Somehow i doubt that I'll get one from her if she reads this blog.

Malcolm. discounting commissions means some agents need to cover their shortfalls. Maybe she does flea markets on the side!

These people are everywhere and it does matter what event. I'm sure it happened at the Oscars, but I agree, it should never happen at all.

Oh Malcolm, you are sooo bad LOL! Maybe she thought it was one of those occasions where one person at the table gets to take the center piece home LOL.

Tacky, tacky, tacky.  As Brian above said, sadly these people are in every group. That is really too bad we have admired the flowers and vases at the Congress Centre.  Too bad we didn't know you were coming to our stomping ground Malcolm we would have liked to have met up with you! BTW our Trenton referrals would go straight to you!

Malcolm, I hate when something like this happens... even worse when they see that I saw.  I am not about to "judge" anyone, but my sentiments mirror yours...

How tacky. Maybe she just wanted a souvenir and the souvenir shop was closed. Or maybe her credit card was declined. Or…. or…. or…. Hey, I’m trying here. J♪♫♫♪

Ty, you could well be right, I might spot that at the Pickering flea market next weekend.

Brian, I'm sure that this happens at every imaginable event, it's just funny that people think that it's acceptable.

Janice, Oh I'm sure she knew very well that she wasn't supposed to be taking it. It was a very nice vase, not a cheap little thing.

Al and Peggy, likewise, you will be getting my Brampton referalls (when I get some). We will get together next time I'm in that area for sure.

Chris, it certainly is bad form, that's why the cost of everything keeps going up, people pilfer.

John, thanks very much, and yes it's a little odd that a lady who is probably my age looks like a high school cheerleader in her advertising.

Jim, thanks for stopping by, and you are absolutely right, tacky is the word I was searching for.

Malcom - we find them every where even at real estate events ..... I don't know that I'd want to deal with this person even on a refferal ..... I'd always be checking to see what they were trying to stuff into their tote bag

Malcolm - you crack me up!   You've got a great writing style that keeps me coming back.  Good luck with that new Liquor Store too but stay away from the 4 brands of Tequila!

That is sad, I'm surprised they didn't put it back after they got caught. How many times have they done something shady on a contract that they didn't think they would get caught. We had a very big agent from another state who stole my logo a few years ago, I felt sorry for that city after that. Found out she was stealing stuff from a lot more than me.
