Quinte, On. real estate agent: My Lunch Companion

My Lunch Companion

This little cutie likes to come and say hello when she sees me coming to work and leaving. She also likes to sit beside me when I'm sitting on the bench, she's very contemplative. She's just a little baby and I think she lives in a little hollowed out tree on the other side of the parking lot. Our first meeting didn't go so well, she ran up to me and I was a little frightened as I've never seen a squirrel do that before. I shrieked a bit as she started climbing up my leg. I had visions of rabies shots dancing in my head, but she was persistent and withstood my attempts to shake her off my leg. She made it all the way up to my arm and then just nestled in my hand. I knew she was alright then, she was just looking for a friend. I guess she found one.

Li, she is indeed cute, I've never met such a bold squirrel before.

Sharon, you'll have to go out and find your own squirrel buddy, hahaha.

Deborah, it was odd, I was standing there and she made a beeline for my leg. She must have been watching me for a while and figured I was harmless.

Someone has been feeding your buddy Malcolm ;). Now it's your turn to carry on. We have squirrels that come and sit on our window sill every morning to get the seed and strawberry tope we leave there.

You're probably right Janice, but for the most part she just likes to lie down in my hand, she's not greedy for food at all. She's a very polite little thing.

Malcolm, this is so sweet and cute!  How amazing that she comes right up to you, WOW!  Thank you for sharing the video and story, it definately made me smile.  We had a squirrel when I was younger that liked to eat out the planter we had by the kitchen sink.  We would keep the window open and every once in a while he (I named him Harold, I was 8 years old) would come inside.  She is lucky to have someone like you that will give her attention.  --Krystal

Malcolm  Your days as a cut throat mean and awful real estate agent are not officially over.   You are a softie and I love it.

that is the sweetest thing I've ever seen!! she is adorable.. my only complaint is the video wasn't long enough.. You need to think of some kind of marketing idea with that.. gotta be something,... "I've got them eating out of my hand"... hmmm.. I'll have to think on that.. Maybe do a blog and let AR members come up with slogans for you.. :)

Malcolm, Oh, that just melts my heart.  What an adorable, little squirrel.  Have you named her yet?

Amazing Malcolm, you are very brave! You will have to find a marking on her of some sort and see how many years she keeps coming back to you!

Krystal, it is pretty cool, and I hope I'm not doing a disservice to the creature by allowing her to get too attached.

Valerie, you're right, I am a pretty big softie.

Lol Sheila, I'm not sure that being the nutty squirrel guy is a great motif to centre an advertising campaign around.

Sally, I'm thinking of calling her Sweetie-pie, after a squirrel that I was acquainted with in my childhood.

Al and Peggy, haha, I'm not that brave, at first I was as horrified as anyone would be having a squirrel climb up my leg. It's difficult telling squirrels apart, the only way I can tell it's her is because she runs up to me.

Wow, Malcolm...thanks for sharing such a cute story about your little affectionate squirrel companion! Sweetie-pie is a perfect name for her. :)

Malcolm, I, too, would have been wary of a wild animal so eager to come up to a human, your company ... or your lunch ;-) must have had too much appeal for the baby squirrel =)
