My last blog post was about a 100 year old runner who was entering the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. I found the story very inspirational. He was attempting to break a slew of records, but most importantly set the world record for finishing a marathon at his age.
Guess what?
Fauja Singh, the runner in question, did manage to finish in a time of eight hours and 25 minutes. This is absolutely remarkable. 22,000 runners participated, and while Mr. Singh was the last one to cross the finish line, he did cross it under his own steam.
Congratulations to Mr. Singh and to everybody who helped to prepare this amazing man for this event.
Malcolm - What an amazing accomplishment. One of my clients celebrated his 100th birthday in February, and he's still going strong too. When I asked for his "secret" he said, "Keep working and live close to the ocean." He still goes to his office several times a week and enjoys an ocean front home.
Mr. Singh is a true inspiration Malcolm. Imagine any of us doing that. Wow !!
Wow Malcolm~ That is quite amazing and extremely inspirational!...I think I better put on my sneakers, grab my dog and go for a hilly walk in Seattle!
Thanks for the Monday Motivation...
Norma, those sound like words to live by indeed. I like the "living by the ocean" part most of all.
Gary, I cannot imagine myself doing that at all. I have 55 years to prepare though, so maybe......
Judi, I did find it very inspirational, and a good walk wouldn't hurt at all.
Hope springs eternal it has been said, but drive and goals last a lifetime. I saw this news this morning and made me realize I am not so old. Thanks Malcolm.
Larry, yes, drive and goals do last a lifetime (and perhaps the lack of them as well).
Malcolm, a great accomplishment...A real inspiration to us all.
have a nice day.
Malcolm, thank you for the results. Such an inspiration that he finished and broke a record. Great video, everyone seemed very excited for him. --Krystal
Malcolm, I have told Mr Singh story many times in the last week. He has become an inspiration to many
100 years old. I would be hard pressed to do a marathon more than half his age young. What an inspiration.
malcolm,
He's out to set all kinds of records, and he might as well.
Brian
I was so glad to see his success in the paper. He's a wonder.
Hi Malcolm, I just heard about this story today as well. What an inspiration this man is for all of us! Thanks for sharing!
This was amazing, we saw it on TV. True inspiration at it's best.
