Quinte, On. real estate agent: The Park in Wellington, Prince Edward County

The Park in Wellington, Prince Edward County

This little park in Wellington is one of my favourite places in Prince Edward County. It's especially fun if you happen to have a couple of kids in tow. Alas, my kids are a little too old to enjoy the park now, but when I'm in the area I still do stop the car and remember all the grand times we had here. It's really just a simple old-fashioned playground where kids can still run around and use their imaginations.

The equipment is always well maintained and the fact that the park overlooks Lake Ontario makes it a pleasant place for parents to sit and watch the kids play. Sometimes it's fun to participate as well. One of the play structures is built like an old fashioned ship, and my son and I used to practice our pirating skills here. Yarrrrrr.

There are also a few charcoal grills scattered around the park, so it's a great place to bring some burgers or hotdogs and make it a lunch time activity. There is a washroom in the park which is always well maintained, so you won't have to worry about the kids needing to pee. Wellington is one of those communities that has a tremendous pride in itself, and this park is a shining example of that.

If you happen to be driving through the village of Wellington on your way to Picton and you happen to have a couple of restless youngsters in the car, I would suggest a quick stop in this park to get some legs stretched. It might be difficult rounding everybody up afterwards though.

Malcolm - there are some wonderful parks in your neck of the woods here in Ontario ..... one of our favourite ones when our children were little was Sand Banks Provincial Park. A great place to day trip to from our then home in Markham

Malcolm,  cool.  Just wait a few years and you will be able to take grandkids to the park. I had my grandsons on Sunday.  The five year old had fun in the stream behind my house.  I still have to post those photos.

Malcolm - This park looks delightful.  There's nothing like walking that gang plank, too!  Hey, I'll be in Stratford, Ontario visiting my brother the first week in September.  Is that any where near Trenton?...

Joshua, it is, I have many memories to prove it as well.

Kathy, there are a lot of great parks around here. I'm going to search them all out and blog about them.

Mary, yes that would be fun, but hopefully it is a few years away yet. 5 year olds sound like a lot of fun.

Sally, I got a lot of practice walking the gang plank in that park. Stratford is a bit of a drive from here, about 5 hours, unfortunately it's on the other side of Toronto.

Valerie, there's lots to do in Prince Edward County.

Now, this looks like a great spot to watch kids play even if yours are too old to enjoy it anymore.  And, the added bonuses of grills and a washroom are great.  When I get to Wellington, I will give you a call and we can pirate together!
